You have different types of solutions: BIS with no installation
needed and BES the behind-the-corporate-firewall
installation.
BIS is more for individuals and small companies while BES is more
for companies who have their own email server
There are no installation or license fees associated with
BIS.
For BES the setup requires installation and licenses (CALs – Client
Access License) please contact your assigned account manager he
will be able to provide you with the information you need.
For BES and BIS, you will have to pay monthly fee for every line on
which you want BlackBerry service. There are 2 plans: Unlimited
National (130 AED per month per BB user), whereby you have
unlimited access to email and internet within UAE and Unlimited
International (260 AED per month per BB user) whereby you have
unlimited access to email and internet within UAE and abroad also.
Note that Unlimited International is not be available yet for PaYG
Plus customers.
Plans are selected per line whereas the installation and licenses
are at company level.
Note: 1GByte monthly fair use policy applies. Additional usage will
be charged at 1fils/KB (within UAE) and as per data roaming charges
(outside UAE)
New and existing customers can sign up and enjoy unlimited
service with no activation or monthly fees until 5 Nov 2008
Yes, same monthly charges for both mobile plans. BlackBerry from
du is available for Mobile Connect lines and Mobile Pay As You Plus
lines.
PLEASE NOTE BLACKBERRY UNLIMITED INTERNATIONAL (AED 260) is NOT
AVAILABLE FOR Pay as you Go Plus.
PaYG Plus customers will be charged in the same way as Mobile
Connect customers, i.e. the monthly charges of 130AED will be
charged on the bill and not deducted from the prepaid account.
You will now need to configure your email accounts to start
synchronising your emails to your phone
Please refer to the user guide. The user guide can be downloaded
from our website.
BIS is for individuals and more suitable for small companies who
don’t have their own email server but use POP3/IMAP/gmail email
accounts; BES is more suitable for companies who have their own
email server
The BIS is easy to setup and requires no installation fee. ,
whereas BES requires installation and licenses (CALs)
Please insert your du SIM card in your device; if the device
works properly it means it not SIM locked and you can use
BlackBerry services from du on your device. Otherwise, you can
purchase a BlackBerry device from du and use our BlackBerry
services on your new device.
When your company subscribes to a BlackBerry plan, the
BlackBerry users benefit from data bundles. Sending and receiving
emails locally will be for free.
While roaming abroad and using BlackBerry, GPRS roaming charges
will apply for the Unlimited Local plan users; please check
www.du.ae for more
information about the data roaming charges.
Note:
BlackBerry® is an always on, always connected GPRS service. It will
automatically attempt periodically to connect to the GPRS network
when turned on in another country and there is a possibility that a
charge could be triggered when the device connects to the network.
BlackBerry® email functionality can be switched off whilst roaming
to avoid unnecessary costs
- In case a user wishes to self-suspend / resume the BlackBerry
service for his Internet-based email accounts (in case of travel
abroad), he can do so through the filter configuration
(www.du.blackberry.com or Email settings in the device menu)
- In case a user wishes to self-suspend / resume the BlackBerry
service for his corporate email account (in case of travel abroad),
he can do so from his device menu:
Homescreen -> Inbox -> Options -> Email Filters ->
If no filters apply, send email to handheld: Yes Change Option to
NO
And all email will stop forwarding
A 1GB fair usage policy applies; please note that 1GB is more
than sufficient for a high usage BlackBerry customer.
In the unlikely event that a customer exceeds the fair usage policy
(1 GB), the customer will get additional data charges (1 fils/KB)
for local use and as per data roaming charges for roaming use.
For BlackBerry Internet Service, you have the following channels
made available for you:
- your company admin calls our customer care on 188 and asks for
activation. He will have to send the needed documentation by
fax
- through du shops or business centres: the person whose name is
on your company trade license or any person that has an
authorisation letter can ask for BlackBerry subscription
- through self care portal: your company payment responsible or
admin can logon to our self care portal and activate BIS on
selected company lines
- through your account manager
For BES installations you need to contact your assigned account
manager.
Yes, you can subscribe to du BlackBerry even if you have
BlackBerry from Etisalat.
You can keep your existing Etisalat BES and subscribe to
BlackBerry service on your du lines. All you need to do is purchase
CALs from du to add on your existing BES server.
Yes, you can do that. BES Licensing is carrier/network
independent and are completely transferable across servers.
In any case, you don’t need to install a new BES server, you can
add CALs or use the same CALs with du using your existing BES
server.
In case you currently have BIS all you need is cancel your
current BlackBerry monthly subscriptions and sign-up with us for
new subscriptions on selected du lines.
There are 2 sides to this:
- You need to inform du about the mobile line(s) you wish to
cancel BlackBerry on and you need to also inform du about the
mobile line(s) you wish to activate BlackBerry on. Once
communicated, du will cancel and activate BlackBerry
accordingly
- Once step 1 is done, your company BlackBerry admin will need to
add/remove user on your company BES server
Please note you may need to purchase more CAL’s from du to add
more users
No, you cannot add BIS subscriptions in case you have BES
subscription from du. Note that BES subscription from du comes with
full BIS features, so you need to add more BES users.
No, you cannot add a BES setup in case you have BIS
subscriptions from du. You will have to cancel the BIS
subscriptions first and then BES will be installed for you. The BES
users you add will have full BIS features.
For BIS: you can do so by visiting our du shops or business
centres or by calling your account manager.
For BES: You can do so by calling your account manager. However,
for BES there is a minimum commitment period for 12 months, in case
you are deactivating before the expiry of 12 months, you might
incur some charges; your account manager will be able to assist
you.
If you terminate BlackBerry before the expiry of the minimum
commitment period, you will be required to pay for the service
until the end of the minimum commitment period and du shall not
refund any charges paid in advance for the minimum commitment
period:
- You will be charged each month for 12 months even if you
request to de-activate the service
- In case the whole contract is terminated then the monthly fee
of the remaining months will be added manually to the last
bill.
Both BlackBerry plans give BlackBerry users Internet access so
they can access the Internet through the BlackBerry browsers:
Internet Browser or Browser. In the BlackBerry handset menu of
BlackBerry users, additional browser icons are created which allows
users to access Internet and traffic will be credited to your
BlackBerry subscription which is unlimited.
We recommend using the Internet Browser or Browser when
accessing the Internet. However, to access the du portal MyWorld we
recommend to use the du browser and APN since access to MyWorld
from the du browser is free of charge.
Please note that if you access the Internet through your du
browser (not the BlackBerry browsers: Browser or Internet Browser)
you will be charged as per applicable mobile data tariffs. Please
check the user guide, it will guide you and illustrate to you the
browsers we recommend you to use.
For BlackBerry, the bundled data that comes with BlackBerry
subscription allows to also access both email and Internet. You
wont be charged for sending / receiving emails.
We don’t recommend that you subscribe to our mobile data bundles
in case you have a du BlackBerry subscription since your du
BlackBerry subscription provides you with unlimited Internet
access.
If you travel overseas and make and receive voice calls you will
be charged at the prevailing roaming charges for your voice
tariffs. Data roaming charges also apply for email and Internet
browsing for Unlimited National plan users; as for the Unlimited
International users, data roaming is included in their BlackBerry
subscription so no charges apply.
Note:
BlackBerry® is an always on, always connected GPRS service. It will
automatically attempt periodically to connect to the GPRS network
when turned on in another country and there is a possibility that a
charge could be triggered when the device connects to the network.

services
No specific roaming deposit is required for BlackBerry. In case
the customer has roaming on his line, his BlackBerry will be active
while roaming.
E-mail
BlackBerry automatically delivers your email to your BlackBerry®
handset, enabling you to manage your inbox wherever you are and
respond quickly. BlackBerry uses GPRS or EDGE technology to deliver
your emails to your device.
Beyond e-mail
As well as Mobile Email, BlackBerry offers web access, as both
offer organiser, task pad and address book functions.
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server setup can also offer wireless
calendar functionality and enable access to corporate data.
These developments capitalise on the power of BlackBerry and adapt
it to deliver customised business data and application, providing
solutions for a range of industry-specific and cross-industry
issues.
BlackBerry enables you to:
- Stay in touch. Be more reactive to customers and
colleagues.
- Save time. Mobile Email turns down time into productive
time.
- Manage your agenda. Calendar synchronisation enables you to
know where to be and when, even when things are changing while you
are out of office.
- Carry your business around with you. For example mobile sales
professionals can access critical data from the field. And
technicians can check case history or receive job requests without
returning to the office.
Yes, Arabic is rendered to Blackberry devices. Typing Arabic is
not supported as yet. It could be available in the devices due out
next year or maybe earlier. In other words, you can receive and
read an email in Arabic but you cannot type an email in Arabic.
No, BlackBerry operates on a fully “push” function. Your e-mail
is always synchronised. When you receive the email at your email
address it is automatically available on your mobile device.
